  • The 1908 No Motto $20 gold coin is a United States gold coin minted in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a prominent sculptor, and is widely considered one of the most beautiful coins ever produced by the US Mint.

The coin consists of 90% gold and 10% copper, has a diameter of 34 mm, and has a weight of 33.4 grams. It features Lady Liberty on the obverse, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the US Capitol building in the background. The coin's reverse shows an eagle in flight with the sun rising behind it, and the denomination of "TWENTY DOLLARS" and the date "1908" is below.

The No Motto variety of the 1908 $20 gold coin is so named because it does not include the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the obverse, added to US coins during the Civil War. The omission of the motto was controversial at the time, and it was eventually added back to the design in 1908, creating a rare and sought-after variety of coins.

The 1908 No Motto $20 gold coin was manufactured in relatively large quantities, with a total mintage of over 4 million coins across all three mint facilities. However, many of these coins were melted down over the years, so high-grade examples are relatively rare and can command significant premiums among collectors.

Overall, the 1908 No Motto $20 gold coin is a beautiful and historically significant coin that is highly sought after by collectors and investors alike.
